Introduction
Welcome to the Media Library of the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC). This Media Library contains carefully selected images intended to promote the Netherlands. Together with you, we aim to convey the same story about the Netherlands. This Media Library is intended for anyone who communicates about or on behalf of the Netherlands. This includes marketers, journalists, and partners from cities, regions, or similar. By using the images, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Editorial use
It is important to emphasize that the use of these images is subject to conditions. All images in the NBTC Media Library may only be used for editorial purposes that support the promotion of the Netherlands. Editorial use includes usage in articles, newsletters, educational materials, and other non-commercial publications that contribute to the positive image of the Netherlands. Commercial use, direct or indirect, including merchandising and product advertising, is explicitly excluded. If improper use of images is detected, NBTC reserves the right to take appropriate measures.
The Difference Between Permitted Promotional Use, Direct Product or Service Promotion, and Merchandising
Permitted Promotional Use: Using images in an article about, for example, Alkmaar in a (company) magazine or newsletter about things to do, places to discover, and where to travel.
Not permitted
Direct Product or Service Promotion: Using images by, for example, a housing corporation, hotel, or organizer in an advertisement, advertorial, commercial, or project brochure with the aim of promoting or selling a house, construction project, rooms, accommodations, packages, trips, events, tickets, etc.
Not Permitted Merchandising: Using images on products such as a T-shirt, mug, flag, calendar, or other product that is sold freely.
Mandatory credit
In addition, every use of the images must include a mandatory credit. This ensures that the source of the image is properly acknowledged and that the rights of the photographers and videographers are respected. The mandatory credit must be clearly stated as indicated in the description of each image.
Images incorrectly online
If you, as a photographer or videographer, believe that images have been incorrectly placed in the Media Library, please contact us at the email address below. Clearly state which materials are involved, including title, item number, and your name, and why you believe these are incorrectly in the NBTC Media Library. We will contact you as soon as possible. nbtc@holland.com
Other purposes & contact photographer
Users are not allowed to sell, license, or otherwise commercially exploit obtained images to third parties. If you want to use the images for purposes other than described above, you can contact the photographer directly to request permission. The contact details of the photographer can always be found under the Source section.
Portrait rights
If people are recognizable in the photo or video you want to use, it is important to ensure that the images are used in the correct context. All files may only be used to promote the Netherlands. It is essential to respect the context and original intent of the images to avoid misunderstandings and incorrect associations. Example: A photo of people enjoying a (alcoholic) drink on the beach. This photo may be used to promote the relevant beach, city, or the Netherlands, but not in the context of an anti-alcohol campaign. This would change the intent of the photo and give a false impression of the people depicted.
Before downloading
Before downloading and using materials from the Media Library, the user must first agree to the terms by checking a box with the reason for the download (mandatory). As a user, you do not need an account or login credentials to download images.
Liability
The user is responsible for any claims by third parties due to improper or unauthorized use of the images, including copyright infringement, portrait rights, intellectual property rights, and privacy violations. The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions and Partners are not liable for these damages and do not participate in the handling of such situations.
