Water light by Daan Roosegaarde, Loevestein Castle

The Netherlands is inextricably linked to water. Almost a third of The Netherlands lies below sea level, and water barriers and dunes are a large part of Dutch Culture. Yet, living below sea level is sometimes taken for granted. Artist Daan Roosegaarde is setting up a virtual flood at Loevestein Castle. His artwork WATERLICHT shows how high the water level could reach. This to remind us of the importance of water innovation and the impact of climate change. A combination of LEDs and lenses create an virtual flood and makes it seem that Loevestein Castle is under water, a dream landscape about the power and poetry of water. WATERLICHT took place exhibited at Loevestein Castle on March 25 and 26 2022.
